Ted Olson Honored in Naples

Yesterday I had the unique opportunity to attend a speech given by Ted Olson, former U.S. Solicitor General.  He was honored as the first recipient of the highest award established by the new Law School of Ave Maria University. Mr. Olson served as Assistant Attorney General under Reagan and later as the 42nd U.S. Solicitor General.  As a constitutional legal scholar, he has argued well over 50 cases before the Supreme Court.  Olson represented presidential candidate George W. Bush in the Supreme Court case
Bush v. Gore, which ultimately determined the result of the highly contested 2000 presidential election.

Last evening he spoke about his experiences, as well as his opinions regarding a number of cases presented before the Court. Residents of Naples are so fortunate to live in this area where one has a multitude of opportunities to hear intellectually stimulating speakers of national and international acclaim.
